shane claibornedietrich bonhoefferThe following is worth remembering even though it is paraphrased from Shane Claiborne who was quoting, or perhaps even paraphrasing, Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

If you love the vision you have for community, you will destroy community. If you love the people around you, you will create community.

it’s from a great little book called “Life Together” by Bonhoeffer.

did you get this from his book or the catalyst podcast?

it’s a fascinating book that is very worth a read. (i’m speaking of life together, but i suppose it goes as well for claiborne’s book.)

Mike and Joshua,
I did read Life Together a few years ago, but don’t remember that particular quote. Thanks for helping point out where it is from.

Matt,
I did get it from the Catalyst podcast, which is why it’s a paraphrase at best on my part.
