You are lucky to have had the entire Harry Potter series to read in a row. It sucks you in and you have to finish it to have closure :)

The Alchemist was an interesting book too. I had heard several people talk about it as I traveled in Europe. I think the idea of traveling and searching for something beyond home resonates with travelers.

Given my bent towards Japan these days, I'll recommend a good fiction book called "Silence" by Shusaku Endo, which is based on the persecutions of Christians in Japan centuries ago.

Well, some of these books cost me sleep...I usually read fiction at night before bed. :)

I really liked the Harry Potter series because of the characters. I liked it more as I went along, so I'm glad I was able to read the whole series back to back, and not have to wait months or years for each release.

What is the What and The Kite Runner are both great, and I really like Anne Rice's Christ the Lord series.

Geez, that's an impressive list. I have loved adding stories into my reading rotation as well. I also feel that a good biography is necessary to have in the regular rotation. I read the Shack and the Catcher in the Rye this year as well. Which books of your list did you enjoy the most?
