Good post John. I was actually thinking about this the other day. I spent years resenting the fact that I had to be bi-vocational. It can be difficult to balance the workload between a full time job, full time ministry and a family. Last week I realized what a blessing the consulting job is. There have been times recently where the day job has brought some sanity into my life. If I did not have the consulting job I would obsess about strategy and be looking for something to put my hand to every second. The thing I have resented for a very long time has proven to be God's kindness in providing for my family and just recently giving me something to do to keep me from being bored while we get the church plant started. He knows what we need.
