30 minutes? ha!

Date February 23, 2008

Apparently, Rachel Ray can make this black bean salsa in 10 minutes.
It took me 60. I doubled the recipe, but that doesn’t make me feel any less incompetent.
I even used her knife.
Update: Crap…I just realized that I forgot the garlic.

the hodos project

Date February 16, 2008

I’ve started a new blog to share the more specific details of our church planting journey with friends and supporters. The blog is called The Hodos Project.

Hodos Project is a code name of sorts for this early stage of our family’s transition to Austin to form a new faith community. Hodos is the Greek word […]

the gift that keeps on giving

Date January 12, 2008

Last year, for Macey’s fifth birthday, one of the presents we gave her was some money to give to a microfinance loan through Kiva.org. That money was repaid in full to us a few weeks ago, so this morning, we sat down and selected a new recipient of those funds.
Macey was first interested in South […]

some strange ideas…with all the trimmings

Date December 27, 2007

When I first started this here blog, I tended to include a lot more in the way of random posts about links I’d found, quotes from readings, quick little thoughts, etc. As other tools have made their debuts on the internet, I’ve started using some of them for some of these same purposes. So, with […]

little hero

Date December 25, 2007

Besides the obvious anxiety about being peed on during a diaper change, having a baby boy in our home the last month and a half brings a whole new set of emotions that are unique from what our girls have brought. Often, while tenderly holding this helpless little man, I have pondered the mystery of […]

subversive seuss

Date December 23, 2007

I’m quite certain that Dr. Seuss is near the top of my personal heroes list. Every tale of rhythm and words has something meaningful to say.
With Christmas looming, the girls and I snuggled in bed and read How the Grinch Stole Christmas! tonight. May the few lines of his rhyme below be as valuable to […]

kindle chaos

Date December 14, 2007

I have a Kindle on order from Amazon. Right now, they are so backordered that they aren’t even able to give me a potential shipping date. I know that is true because I check the order status about 6-10 times a day!
This is the second Kindle I’ve ordered. I ordered one on Thanksgiving, because at […]

‘daddy’ is a daddy again…

Date November 30, 2007

Our dear friends Justin ‘Daddy’ and Erin Narducci recently got word that they are going to be parents again for the second time in a year. This time, it is via adoption from Ethiopia. I hope you will take the time to read a little more about their hearts and this process on their blog.
Congrats […]

oh yeah…i’m a blogger

Date August 24, 2007

I fancy myself a blogger, but I guess I probably need to actually blog more than one or two times a month if I want to fancy myself so. Life hasn’t brought anything major our way, but there has been enough going on to keep me from putting a lot of energy into writing (or […]

thanksgiving eve reflections

Date November 22, 2006

I’m a bit annoyed with myself for how little I’ve been posting of late. I thought I’d write a post about that, if nothing else just to give myself some satisfaction that I actually posted something besides a brief book review. Truthfully, I think I just wanted an excuse to post my South Park likeness. […]

out with you, klutter

Date July 29, 2006

This morning, I tossed three empty shampoo bottles out of the shower. (Sorry if I woke you up Sherri.) Though I am kapable of telling when a shampoo bottle is empty, I never seem to remember that fakt by the end of the shower, so they build up in there.
That kind of signifies life right […]

whew

Date July 6, 2006

Blogging has suffered of late because of life, but I’d rather have it that way than the other way around. Here’s what’s keeping me busy:

Enjoying the weather with my family. It’s actually raining today, but the last few weeks have been beautiful, and we’ve taken advantage of it.
This weekend, Pathways is hosting a booth at […]
